The George Lauder Bursary

The George Lauder Bursary, offered through Adam Smith Scholarships, part of Fife College, reflects a longstanding partnership between the College and supporters in the USA who share a commitment to educational excellence and global citizenship.

Funded through annual contributions from the descendants of George Lauder and other friends of the College in the USA, the Bursary is administered by the St. Andrew’s Society of the State of New York.

Every year two lucky individuals are chosen to have the opportunity of a lifetime and travel to the United States of America and study in their chosen fields, living amongst American culture and people.  The opportunity opens new horizons and experiences to each winner every year!

My name is Erin Fox and I was lucky enough to be awarded the George Lauder Bursary for 2025.  I am honoured, thrilled and excited, I cannot wait to get started in the USA this summer!

I will be studying in Washington DC looking into Child Development and trauma, how this impacts children's development and relationships. Also, I will be undertaking a course about Development and Diversity: American Education, within this course I hope to learn about different educational structures, different cultures and ways this all has both positive and negative impacts on children.

I am very lucky to be volunteering on my trip too during the days I am not at university.

As well as my blog, I am posting all about my journey on my social media (Facebook and Instagram) pages which are linked below!
